-By Anthony CrupiSpongeBob’s reign of error ended on a high note Monday night as Nickelodeon’s poriferan protagonist drew 7.7 million viewers with his new half-hour special, SpongeBob SquarePants’ “WhoBob WhatPants?”According to Nielsen Media Research data, the Oct. 13 SpongeBob special averaged 4.1 million kids 2-11, 2.7 million kids 6-11 and 2.3 million ‘tweens 9-14.On the night, the WhoBob episode was TV’s most-watched program among the three demos. The special also was ad-supported cable’s number-one entertainment show in terms of its overall delivery.The antic episode was notable for the sheer amount of mayhem perpetrated by the aquatic hero, who in the first five minutes alone, destroys a birthday cake, fries a wad of his boss’ hard-won cash and shatters his snail pal Gary’s shell with an overexuberant hug. While SpongeBob was busy alienating the rest of Bikini Bottom, the net launched a new WhoBob WhatPants? game on Nick.com. The game generated 2.6 million plays, ranking as the number-one game on the site since its launch.
